PALLET CURTAIN DISPLAY RACK (UN BURRITO)

This is the first piece of furniture I built using pallets. When first asked to build this curtain rack I stood looking shocked. “From Pallets?”

I served my time as a Maintenance Fitter at a Pallet Manufacturers, W.H. Shaws in Diggle. There was a time when Diggle was known as Pallet Valley. The factory closed down in 2005.

I could just imagine what the people of the factory would have said if I’d mentioned I wanted a couple of pallets to take home and make a table or something similar.

Four pallets were dismantled and were screwed together with blocks used to strengthen the structure.

Wheels were added to ease movement of the burrito.

Handles made from boarding and blocks were also attached to push or pull the rack. These also serve as display areas.

Two rails were fixed inside to take curtain samples. The removal of these samples from the wall display meant that more products could be brought in. The height of the burrito is ideal as the top can be used to show samples of the curtains.

The view from the street.
