PALLET SWING SHELVING

These were quite a straight forward project but funnily enough they have caused a stir amongst the regular clients.

It’s amazing the number of combinations that can be stacked on these shelves and they are only attached to 22mm plaster board.

The combination sets are especially efficient for displaying towels, bed sheets and even catalogues. There’s a surprising amount of weight when they are loaded up

The shelves consist of 3 thick boards from shipping pallets and two reinforcing boards below. These are screwed into the thick boards from below and wood paste filler is used to hide them before receiving three coats of white matt paint. All edges were bevelled.

A 12mm hole was drilled in each corner and after a quick visit to how to tie a knot web site they were levelled out.

The knot used to attach the rope at the the top is an Alpine Butterfly Loop.

The triple shelving took a bit longer to level out.

Two 12mm holes were drilled into the plasterboard above and butterfly dry wall hooks were inserted.

The rope was attached to a Carbine boating hook so as to allow quick removal if the display had to be changed or temporarily withdrawn.

All screws, fittings, rope and paint were purchased from Ferretería Santander.

On night I was showing a friend these pictures and he said that this style of shelving is very popular in Japan.

A strip of LED lighting was added to the display case.

A board was bought from Marino de la Fuente and this was covered on both sides with different patterns of wall paper. One for the colder months and a colourful one for the warmer ones.
